“Educating to Preserve: an Exercise of Citizenship” aims to promote scientific communication through dialogue with the teachers from both elementary and high schools, sharing scientific knowledge. Moreover, this enables the implementation of new methods of teaching approach, encouraging students to search for knowledge. Amphibians are used as a starting point for further discussions on the importance of environmental preservation in the maintenance of species as well as the man's role in maintaining environmental homeostasis. This discussion allows to demystify the representation of their being disgusting animals, which was created by legends and/or popular culture. Considering that many teachers from public schools have not been in contact with scientific knowledge for quite some time, the project promotes lectures and didactic materials with uptated information of Amphibian biology. Moreover, it has ludic material in order to support educational activities and improve the learning process. Then, the project has a multidisciplinary approach since it promotes interdisciplinarity between Biology and Portuguese Language.
